New York 2001

Thursday June 14th, 2001 / Jueves 14 de junio del 2001. Karla arrived to New York City. Hector was waiting for her in the Hotel and as soon as she got there we got out! We took the subway and went to Soho, a neighborhood with a lot of Cafes, small shops and funny things to see, we had dinner there. Near there is Chinatown; we walked a few blocks in there. Karla llegó a la ciudad de Nueva York, donde Hector la estaba esperando. Aventamos la mochila y nos fuimos de vagos. Tomamos el metro (como el del DF, pero un poco mas cochino) a Soho, un barrio pintoresco con cafes al aire libre, negocitos, gente al por mayor, ahi cenamos y caminamos al barrio chino. 
This church amazed us for the contrast with the other modern buildings. Esta iglesia que nos gusto mucho por el contraste en el tipo de edificios. 
Then we went to the Empire State Building, and we could see the city from floor 86th (there's another observatory in floor 102nd but it has glass and the view isn't that good. We could see NYC before and after it got dark, so it was beautiful! We took some pictures from the observatory, but they didn’t come out good. But trust us, the view is great! :) De ahi nos fuimos en metro al Empire State Building, que es donde King Kong se subio con la chavita. Era el edificio mas alto de la ciudad de Nueva York hasta hace unos años, pero sigue siendo uno de los mas turisticos y bonitos. Vimos la ciudad desde el piso 86 (tiene mas de 100) hasta que anochecio. Es muy dificil tomarle fotos sobre todo de noche. Salieron feas la mayoria de nuestras fotos desde el mirador. Pero creannos,la vista de la ciudad desde alla arriba es hermosa.
From there we took the subway to Times Square, where we could see the night signs and lots of people, walking, taking pictures –many tourists-, playing musical instruments, eating, shopping, etc. Otra vez en metro nos fuimos a Times Square, que es otro de los lugares mas turisticos de la ciudad (claro, fuimos a puros lugares turisticos, como buenos turistas jajajaja, que babas no?) ahi estan muchos de los teatros de Broadway, letreros luminosos de varios pisos, gente tocando, bailando, vendiendo, y decenas de turistas.

Then we took a taxi to the Rockefeller Center (where the NBC and ABC stations are). We took a ride in a horse-pulled car, which Karla though was dangerous for NYC. We finished that night in a cafe, after walking for hours. Karla got blisters from this very first day from all the walking. Hector didn’t; he’s not human. The long picture below shows Times Square really good. Esta vez en taxi (que es como en Colima, los tomas en cada esquina, no como en Kansas, que nomas por telefono) nos fuimos al Rockefeller Center que es donde estan las televisoras nacionales de dos canales enormes (como Televisa), tomamos un paseo en calandria, ¡imaginense en Nueva York! Karla sentia que un pinche taxi se nos iba a echar encima y voltear la carreta, en serio, son re cafres. ¡Ni disfruto Karla el mendigo paseo caro! Terminamos la noche en un cafe cerca del hotel. Por cierto, el hotel estaba a una cuadra de Broadway, tres de la Quinta avenida y dos de Central Park. Todo nos quedaba cerca.
