Friday June 15th, 2001 / Viernes 15 de junio del 2001. Karla woke up with blisters, so she put on some Band-Aids and tennis shoes. We went (in the subway again) to the station where we could get the ferry to the Statue of the Liberty and Ellis Island. The size of the statue can be seen if you notice the little people in the picture of the foot. The statue is not filled, it’s made of copper with a two-penny thickness and people can go to the crown to see NYC.

This was funny :) Chequense esto :)

The city of New York behind us from the island. It was a foggy day. Nueva York se ve desde la isla. Como veran estaba aneblinado.

Ellis Island was the entering port where millions of immigrants arrived to the States. We liked this place a lot. It's a museum with migration info, and it's a cool place.

After that we walked to Wall Street (just a few blocks from the ferry station) and we saw the Stock Exchange Buildings. All the buildings are so tall that we barely could see the sunlight in there. And it was a busy day there.

Then we walked to the World Trade Center, which is now the tallest building in NYC (although New Yorkers love the Empire State the most... I wonder if it's because of king Kong). The World Trade Center is a four-buildings place where two of them are the skyscrapers. In the bottom there's a mall.

From there we went to see the Brooklyn Bridge, so we could also stop and see the City Hall. We walked to South St Seaport where there's an open area with restaurants and shops. We had a nice dinner there. We walked around the area, which seemed like a downtown-type, with lots of small stores, cafes, bookstores, etc.

Hector in Central Park. Isn’t he handsome? Hector en Central Park. ¿A poco no esta guapisimo?
