Paris 2008 Day 15

Early in the morning we went to the Museum of the Deportation in honor of Jews deported during WWII. Then we went to the oldest square in Paris, Place des Voges. It's a park surrounded by 36 identical houses, nine on each side. The park is absolutely symetrical, and we did as the others did, and laid on the grass, read, napped, and sunbathed for hours, breaking only to go and eat and then came back.
Against the advice of two waiters Hector ended up trying the traditional french dish Andouillette. It's described as "sausage dish" on the English menus but in fact is tripe. Apparently a lot of foreign customers shy away from it and both waiters discouraged me from trying it. I had no idea what it was going to be until it arrived. It was actually very good. The meat had a strong flavor and a lot of mustard.
On our way back to the hotel we went into Saint Paul's church. Then, back to our room to pack and go to bed early.
Temprano en la manana visitamos el Museo de la Deportacion en honor a los judios deportados en la Segunda Guerra mundial; de ahi nos fuimos al jardin mas antiguo de Paris, Place des Voges. Es un parquecito rodeado de 36 casas identicas, nueve en cada lado; todo el parque es simetrico, incluyendo las fuentes y areas verdes. Hicimos lo que los demas y nos echamos en el pasto a leer, dormir y asolearnos. Intrrumpimos un rato para ir a comer, pero en la tarde regresamos al mismo sitio.
Hector probo el platillo llamado Andouillette que al parecer es muy tradicional en la comida francesa. Dos meseros en dos restaurantes diferented me recomendaron que mejor no lo probara que por que a la mayoria de los turistas no les gusta. En el menu en ingles viene descrito como "un platillo a base de chorizo" pero en realidad es tripa y es por lo que a la mayoria de la gente no le gusta. En fin, lo termine probando y me gusto, tiene un sabor fuerte a carne y con mucha mostaza.
Ya de vuelta al hotel, llegamos a la iglesia de San Pablo. Y de ahi al cuarto a empacar y acostarnos temprano.
